Program
BWC’s
Premium Discount Program + (PDP+) is designed to assist
experience-rated employers (those not in a group rating,
retrospective or One Claim Program) having a 0.90 or greater
experience modifier in establishing a safer, more cost-effective
work place. Eligible employers receive discounts of up 30%
per year on their premiums for implementing the program.
Eligibility
- Experience
Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.90 or greater for the policy
year in which the discount is given.
- Can
not participate in group rating, retrospective rating
or the One Claim Program in the same policy year of PDP+
participation.
- Must
be current on all premium payments.
- Must
not have cumulative lapses in coverage of more than 59
days within the 18 months preceding the beginning of the
policy year of participation.
- Must
have active coverage on the first day of the policy year
or participation.
Requirements
- Implement
the BWC’s 10-Step Business Plan to receive premium discounts
up to 10% for the first 2 years and up to 5% for the third
year.
- The
program discount cannot take the EMR lower than 0.90.
- You
must allow BWC access to your work sites.
- Must
develop a plan of action.
- Must
submit a self assessment..

10-Step Business Plan, PDP+ Self Implementation Workbook
and Hunter Consulting will assist in implementing a safety
program and claims management strategies that meet the
needs of your business.
PDP+
Extension
The
BWC Offers a two year extension if you have already participated
in PDP+. That is, if you have completed the three year or
four year program and have been out of the program for two
or more years.
You
have the potential to earn discount up to 10% the first
year and 5% the second year. ( you must achieve both the
frequency and severity goals in the first year of the extension
to qualify for second year participation.)
The
BWC will set an estimated benchmark of claims severity and
frequency ratios. You must show 15% reduction in both the
first year to receive a premium refund. You must show a
15% improvement after one year in either benchmark to receive
a premium bonus.
Full
weekly wage (FWW) is calculated by adding together the injured
worker’s wages from the 6 weeks prior to the date of injury
and dividing by the number of weeks worked during that time.
Bonus
BWC
will base the PDP+ claims severity and frequency bonuses
on the following.
- For
a 15 % or greater claims severity ratio reduction – a
10% bonus
- For
a 15% or greater claims frequency ratio reduction – 5%
bonus
- For
obtaining a 15% or greater claims severity ratio reduction
and 15% or greater claims frequency ratio reduction –
an additional 5% bonus. Receive up to a 20% bonus if you
achieve both goals.
Discounts
An employer
may participate simultaneously in BWC’s Drug Free Workplace
Program, Drug Free Workplace EZ Program and the PDP+. The
stacking of discounts will apply so long as the employer
satisfies the requirements of each program. In applying
the discounts, the BWC will first apply PDP+ and then the
drug free discount.
