Good Afternoon all! I would like to write a few quick reminders about some upcoming deadlines. As I am sure we are all busy with the anticipation of summer being right around the corner given this beautiful weather, it is important we don’t forget about upcoming information. Here are a few reminders for our private employers, May 31st is a big day as we have 3 upcoming deadlines. Deadline to apply Drug Free Safety Program, May 31st, Deadline to apply for industry Specific Safety Program, May 31st, Deadline to apply for Transitional Work Bonus Program, May 31st. As for our Public Employers we have one upcoming deadline to enroll in the Group Experience Rating Program, deadline May 20th.
Some of you may be wondering well what are these programs/what do they have to benefit me? Lets say for an example; What is the drug safety program? This is a BWC voluntary safety program developed to address workplace use and misuse of alcohol and other drugs. It is designed to help state-fund employers more effectively prevent on-the-job injuries and illnesses by integrating drug-free efforts into the overall workplace safety program. Within this program it can help employers achieve both long-range safety and cost-saving benefits. In order to be eligible for these programs you have to hit certain requirements, with the DFSP they are the requirement’s you have to attain; you have to be a private, state-fund employer or a public employer taxing district, Be current on all payments due BWC, Not have cumulative lapses in workers’ compensation coverage in excess of 40 days within the preceding 12 months, Be in an active policy status and Report actual payroll for the preceding policy year, and pay any premium due upon reconciliation of estimated premium and actual premium for that policy year.
